Armenian-Americans and the Genocide-Debate?

Just regarding the protests in Turkey recently regarding the push for the slaying of some debatable millions of Armenians ~WWI to be deemed as genocide; I recognize the grief that many victims of this tragic event possess, it was a dark point in history that is, admittedly often ignored, but at this point in the 21st century attempting to dig the issue up and open old wounds with Turkey just seems detrimental to peace in the area. More people could end up being hurt if this situation isn't brought to a peaceful conclusion (or just left to be). Do you agree?
