I purchased an ipod and now need to transfer 2000 songs into mp3! help?

Ive downloaded a couple of programs from download.com but they will only do 1 at a time which would take forever and itunes only copies it, doesnt delete the orignal. If someone knows of a program i can use or a way to make itunes delete the wma and then replace it with the mp3 please let me know
