What to do with a cunning roommate?

Sharing and teamwork is always hard. If there is an incentive such as payment or promotion then this is good, like in a professional situation. However living in a shared house is different. There is no incentive. Personally when I have lived with others I have bought and cooked my own meals. This is because my personal agenda was different from other peoples. I didn't like to be tied down to cooking for others and eating with them. I was too busy and erratic with my social schedule. It sounds like this guy is the same. If I was you let those that want to share if you know that they are thinking like a team, however if it is going to upset you that others are not being fair, then buy and cook your own food. And let this guy do the same. There are other ways you can be a team such as challenging another room to a game of football or basketball. Why not tell the guy how you feel and that you see his behavior as being antisocial. Perhaps he has his own ideas of how he likes to express himself as a team member. If anything this will be good mangement practice for you in the future.
