Questions for Atheists who were formerly religious or grew up in religious homes?

I "came out" as an atheist at 18 to my mother. She's a Christian. It put a large wedge between us for quite some time. My family is unaware of my atheism. I'm saving it for when they go on their anti-ity raids.
